Youth Group Game – Easter

Use this game at an upcoming Easter service or event.

Bible: Luke 24:1-43

Object: The object of this game is for the students to realize how easy it is to become distracted with Easter activities and lose sight over why we celebrate Easter.

Supplies:

  • One headband with bunny ears per team
  • 3 soft rings or plastic glow-in-the-dark necklaces (to make a ring) per team
  • Easter Peeps for the winning team
  • Lots of Easter Peeps for the game
  • Masking tape

Preparation:

Tape down a starting point for each team and a focus point on the other side of the room where you want them to hop to for the relay

Rings should be put together before the game starts.

How to Play:

Explain to students that they will be divided into two teams and that they will have to stand behind the starting point.

The first person in the line must wear the bunny ears and hop down to the focus point (10-15 feet away).

Then they need to turn around and stop.

The next person in line must throw the rings to try to get them around at least one of the bunny ears of their teammate.

The player must continue to try until all three rings are on the bunny ears.

Next, the player has ONE chance to throw an Easter Peep and land it in the mouth of the volunteer with the bunny ears. For every catch, the team is awarded bonus points.

Next, the person wearing the bunny ears needs to hop back to the starting line.

The next person in the line will then put on the bunny ears and hop down to the focus point and the process will continue.

Instruct students to continue until everyone has had a chance to do both the throwing of the rings and wearing the bunny ears.

The first team to have every player go once wins. Award them a prize – a pack of Easter Peeps.

The team with the most bonus points (most catches of the Easter Peeps) gets a prize too – a pack of Easter Peeps or whatever else you can think of.

Leader Script:

So often, we get distracted by Easter activity that we loose site of it’s real meaning.

In the game we just played, we had to focus on the player wearing bunny ears.

This Easter, let’s stay focused on Jesus.

We celebrate Easter because he came to earth as a man, died on a cross, and came back to life.

Sin and death no longer have a grip on all those follow Jesus.

Let’s remember that this Easter.

Let’s take a quick look at the events surrounding Jesus’ resurrection.

Read Luke 24:1-43

Next, discuss the following questions in small groups:

  • If you were one of the disciples, would it have been hard for you to believe that Jesus had come back from the dead? Why or why not?
  • What is most hard for you to believe about Jesus’ ressurection?
  • Why do you think Jesus’ resurrection is important?
