Camp
This week I am enjoying time at Middle School Camp. We are having a blast. Yesterday our students got to go on the zipline. They love the rush of flying down the line at crazy speeds. I love to see them do it for the very first time.
They also went swimming and had the coolest homemade water slide I have ever seen. We took a giant tarp and laid it down a hill. Then we spread dawn dish soap on it and sprayed water. Then let the fun begin. It was amazingly fast and incredibly fun.
We also shared during several times with our family groups. I have a group of 9 boys and we got to know each other pretty good yesterday. I also had the opportunity to speak at worship last night. Our goal with the lesson and family group last night was to get our students talking and sharing. We wanted to let them know that it was ok to ask questions. This is much like the message presented in our series “The Big Q”
This worked really well. All of the students in camp seemed to connect and get comfortable with us as adult leaders.
I have met some awesome people who are working with junior high students, and they are all struggling with many of the same issues. I am finding that resources are a huge issue in junior high ministry. I pray that juniorhighministry.org can be a resource for you as you work with junior high studetns.
We are looking forward to even more fun the rest of the week, and I am looking forward to sharing it with you.
I would love to hear about your camp experiences this summer. Let me know what was cool for you and your junior high students. If it is really cool I may even share it here in one of our posts. Thanks!
