Make it last
We work so hard planning the perfect event. We get everybody together and make sure everybody understands what is going to happen. Then we go to the event and students love it. The problem comes when the event is over and we have nothing to spark our memory about the event.
I would encourage you to take lots of pictures at these events. Give somebody a camera and just tell them to go crazy, but make sure they try to get pictures of as many students having fun as possible. It is easy to get focused on one area or one funny student. This could be a negative.
What this does is after the event you can now post pics to facebook for your students to see. You could also print pictures for them if you want. There is also the chance you could get one of those priceless pictures you turn into a poster to hang in your youth room.
These pictures will turn in to something your junior high students can look back on for years to come. I have a friend that made a scrapbook each year of what happened in the junior high ministry, and the graduating seniors loved to look back on what they did when in junior high.
Pictures can make your event that you work so hard on last. More importantly it can help your junior high students remember how much fun they had as they gathered for a youth group event. Sometimes you even get a picture of a day when a student made a life changing decision.
Be ready! You can get a really good quality camera for under $200 and just shoot away. You won’t regret it.
