SummerI love summer, and summer is in full swing.  Don’t let it pass you by.  We don’t have much time if we want to make the most of our summer, so here are 3 quick tips for not missing out on ministry opportunities with Junior High Students!

1.  At least once a week call a few students and go putt putt with them or just out to lunch.  They are crazy bored in the summer and this is a great way for you to influence their choices during these summer months.

2.  Plan a large group gathering later in the month.  Nothing fancy, but something different.  A great idea would be a BYOL at your church.  Also know as “BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!”  Have students bring a sack lunch and plan a few games over a lunch hour.  This can be a big hit.

3.  Plan Ahead!  Make sure you are planning your kick-off activities for the fall.  Don’t wait!  Do it now.  Make sure you are planning something that students can get excited about.  Start telling them about it as soon as you can.

These are very short and very simple ideas, but they can make a huge impact in our junior high students lives.

So get out there and enjoy the rest of your summer.  I can’t wait to share with you all our new Back-to-School Series that will be coming out later this month.  You are going to love it!!!

Thank you for the ideas! I just started volunteering with a very small church who stops all youth activities in the summer, except for Sunday School (I know! I know! I’m working on it!) I’m not the youth director, but a Sunday School teacher and youth group volunteer new to the church, so I am trying to do small things to make the youth have more fun over the summer without stepping on toes. The BYOL sounds perfect!!! I can’t wait to check the church calendar and plan one tomorrow! Again thank you so much for sharing the ideas!!!!!!!
