Ignite-The-Bible-for-Teens-Square

Recently  a new Bible was released for public consumption.  No not a new Bible with new scriptures.  This Bible is filled with info and helps for teens. Mark Oestreicher was the General Editor on this Bible.  This Bible is called Ignite – The Bible For Teens.  The title leaves us wondering what is different about this Bible, and if you open it up you will not be disappointed.  This Bible is obviously put together for Middle School students.  The group of writers are mostly focused in Middle School Ministry, and this shows in their writing style.

This Bible is written in the New King James Version.  I have to admit that this is not the version I generally have chosen to use in the past.  I couldn’t tell you why, but it just wasn’t.  After looking through this Bible I am very impressed with this version because they have made it very easy to read.  I guess that is why the word New is in the version name.

Once you dig into the Bible you will find many different helps through out the scriptures.

1.  I love that at the beginning of each Book there is a clear and concise description of that particular Book of the Bible.  There is also a Find It section on each of these pages that allows you to know where you can find things such as the 10 Commandments.  I think there is power in this because we all know it is an accomplishment to remember what book it is in.  We could use a little help on Chapter and Verse.

2.  There are Spotlights written by some of the great writers of the day that will guide you through God’s Story from Genesis to Revelation in 100 Readings.  Many of our students aren’t at a point where they are prepared to sit down and read the entire Bible, but many of them could read these to get an understanding of God’s Story.

These are just a couple of the great elements included in this Bible.   Even if you don’t use this version on a regular basis I would strongly encourage you to check it out as an additional resource to use or it would make an incredible gift to give to your students.  The additional material in this Bible will lead to deeper discussions with you and their families.
